Flicktionary Terms of Service

Last updated: June 3, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

Flicktionary (“we”, “us”) is a language-learning service consisting of the web app at flicktionary.app and a companion browser extension (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required to consent to data processing in your country) to use the Service.

3. Subscriptions and payment

4. Your content

The Service lets you save words and phrases, make notes and highlights, and import or paste text (for example subtitles of a video you watch or an article you import). You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant us the limited license needed to operate the Service: to store your content, process it (including with AI language-model providers such as Anthropic) to generate the definitions, explanations, and study material you request, and display it back to you. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not share it with other users.

You are responsible for the content you submit. Only import or save material you are legally permitted to use for your personal study.

5. AI-generated content

Definitions, explanations, translations, and study material are generated by AI language models. They are provided as a learning aid and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on them where accuracy is critical, and use your own judgment.

6. Acceptable use

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Third-party content and services

The browser extension works alongside third-party websites and streaming services. We are not affiliated with those services, and these terms do not modify your agreements with them. You are responsible for complying with the terms of the websites you use the extension on.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not grant you any rights to it other than the right to use the Service as intended.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your profile settings, which permanently and irreversibly removes your account information and learning data. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the Service; if we discontinue a paid service, we will refund the unused portion of your subscription.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the learning material it produces is accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date above; for material changes we will notify you through the Service or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
